pad"Matisse: Painter as Sculptor" Hardcover

This book highlights and contextualizes Matisse's achievements as a sculptor, featuring twenty-four of his most important sculptures joined with his paintings and drawings. It examines the relationship in his development between two- and three-dimensional work and correlates sculptures by Matisse with works by other major modernists to address questions of influence, affinity, and the meaning of modernism in Matisse's sculpture, as well as presents the results of new technical studes on his working and casting methods.

The exhibition "Matisse: Painter as Sculptor" is organized by the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Baltimore Museum of Art and will be on view concurrently at the DMA and NSC January 21-April 29, 2007
