Dallas Museum of Art 100 Years
Product Description
This catalogue of 103 colorful brochures fitting sequentially inside a handsome plastic container accompanies the exhibition celebrating the DMA's first Centenniel (1903-2003) and traces the development of the DMA's collection, with particular focus placed upon acquisitions, whether as gifts or purchases, that portray the building of collections through its curators, foundations and collectors. It is intended not only to give the story of this institution's growth over the past century but also to capture its vibrant spirit as a place of art and learning in our community. This book is organized as one hundred separate pieces in order to provide a forum for many different voices and to reflect the colorful diversity of the people, places, and events that have shaped the Museum's development. The essays unfold essentially chronologically as they trace the Museum's inception, its moves, and its leaps forward in terms of collection, facilities, supporters, and staff. Published in 2003.
